I arose out of bed, got Alex and Nic up for school, got dressed fed the little monsters and took them to school. But the difference today is that someone was going to stab me five times. So we arrive at the St. Louis Co. Health Clinic. Oh just let me tell you, You haven't lived unless you have been stabbed 5 times in your arms. Typhoid, Yellow Fever, Meningitis, TDap, and Twinrix Vaccines which is Hep A and B. And since we were getting poked like a pin cusion, we figured we would get the flu one also. But you know what, the flu was the inhaled kind so that was one less shot. Anyway, my arms are killing me. The feel like they have been punched by Hollifield and Tyson. Oh well. One less thing we have to worry about. So to sum up this day...OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Homeland Security

Well I know that it has been a minute since I wrote. I have been so busy of late. Well firstly, we started construction on the lower level of the house. Putting in a rec room with surround sound and all along with putting in Nancy's office. Where her office is now is going to be the baby's room. The lower level should be finished by the end of October. Next, I have joined the minivan club. I said I would never drive one...never say never. I bought a Honda Odyssey Touring Edition. And I have to admit, it is great. I don't have to worry about opening the doors for Alex, I can just push a button and he can get in and out. Plus it is low enough for him to get in and out without fear of falling in an SUV. We also got in advance of the baby(ies). And lastly today we received our approval from the US Department of Homeland Security to adopt two children from Ethiopia and our request has been sent to the Ethiopian embassy in Addis.

Empty Nest

Okay...today was the first day of school for Mister Alexander, he started kindergarten. Now we are official waiting for our new little baby girl, but now my house is empty. Nancy and I took him to school today. He looked so nice in his uniform. Bright white polo shirt, crisp dark blue pleated shorts, new white Nike's and a nice new backpack. We video tape the how event, and of course once he arrived, and observed his friends sitting at the tables, coloring and seeing his new teacher, he completely forgot that we were there. We had tears of joy and fright in our eyes. We are so proud. The first day of the start of a long road of education. Well I guess I can catch up on my golf game now since Mister will not be here asking, Daddy what time is it, Daddy can I watch TV, Daddy my finger hurts, Daddy what is for lunch, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Dad, Dad, Dad, Daddo, Daddo, Daddo, Da, Da, Da, Pop, Pop, Pop, Poppa, Poppa, Poppa. So I went to the Saint Louis County Health Department in South County to make an appointment for getting our shots. Alex was with me and was very good. He sat down in the chairs quietly and patiently waiting for me to finish talking with the receptionist.

So I introduce myself to the receptionist and advised her that I along with my wife needed travel vaccinations. She asked me which country were we traveling to and I responded, Ethiopia. She looked at the vaccination sheet and stated, "Oh you need them all". I said all, what all. So she shows what all is, Hep A, Hep B, Meningitis, Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid, Yellow Fever, and Malaria. At the time my arms felt like fifty pound weights. Oh my this is going to be painful. So we go on October 7Th for the first round. Cheese and Bread this is going to interesting. and put them bad boys back in the mail to them this evening. Rather, had them sent via Fed Ex overnight. I just checked the tracking number and the envelope is in transit. This is so nerve racking. Making sure that you take care of all the paperwork and making sure that it is done right. Well I talked with our agent and she advises that once the agency receives the paperwork that I just sent, we will be on the waiting list. And that is just what we will be doing. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Meanwhile we will be finishing off the rest of the basement and looking for new bedroom furniture for our baby girl. Or might I say, BABIES.

Later for now.

It's Done It's Done It is Done

Our Dossier is now done. All our paperwork is now complete. I can not even express the feelings that we have at this time. It seemed like it would not happen but here we are. I know I have said this before, but thank you so much to Stacey for all you did for us. You know there are friends and there are people that go above and beyond. That is Stacey. Thank you to Shanise for all you did for us. Good looking out. Now comes the really hard part....waiting for our referral. We so want more than one, two girls. OMG can you imagine. Us with two baby girls. I just know that we need some pink in this house. Oh let me correct myself, pink and green. So once we start getting referrals I will let the world know, until then, I will be reading about Ethiopian culture, food, and the Aramaic language. Till then...take care.

Moving along

Well here we are at the end of July and we are just about finished with our dossier. OH MY GODNESS just reading it I began to get overwhelmed. So much to do. But I have been reasurred that it is okay. That what I am now experiencing is quite common in parents. The good thing is that I have plenty of help with Stacy and our social worker, Heather. This is just going to be a busy month for me. Nancy goes out of town twice this month before we all go on vacation at the end of this month. Also I am volunteering at our Vacation Bible School, Cosmic City, which begins June 16. Along with just having the kids out of school and my regular stuff, cheese and bread I am going to be busy. But hey it keeps you young. Nancy and I are reading books regarding the adoption and surfing the net. So I will begin the dossier and try to get as much done before we go on vacation. Other than that, It's all good.

Later

Paperwork all in

Well CHSFS has all of the paperwork. Also we all had to get a TB test for the medical forms for the homestudy. Well me being the SAHD I am, I took Alexander to the doctor. Just so happens, Alex needed his kindergarten shots also. So we go in and the doctor examines him. Alex starts to get really quirky. Now he said as soon as the doctor came in that he did not want a shot. Unbenonst to him, he needed two. The TB test shot and a Hepatitia A. So I hope you know where I am going with this.....anyway, the doctor gives me the look and I told Alex to get dressed. I started telling Alex about how brave he is and that if he is good I will take him to Nascar Racecar so that he can drive the go-carts. Alex is cool until....

She walked in the room, the nurse that is, carrying what seemed to Alexander two instruments of death. Two needles.

Let the screaming commence.

Well after having two nurses and myself holding him so tightly that he could barely move, the shots were given. After all that he was given a cherry popsicle. Oh the humanity, oh the horror. Alex looked at me as if to say, I freaking popsicle.

Well I am still going to take him to Nascar Racecar.

God love him.

Here we go

Well when Nancy and I thought about having more kids we thought we could do it naturally. But hey things happen. So we started thinking, what about adopting. So here we are. And not just any kind of adoption but an Internationally adoption from Ethiopia, hince the Ethiopian flag and colors. We are using a wonderful lady for our home study and we are almost done. We are hoping to have all our paper work done and submitted to Children's Home Society and Family Services, from now on know as CHSFS, by the end of the month for the Ethiopian courts shut down for the summer June 1. We are hussling. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork and I heard that the dossier is a whole lot of paperwork, paperwork, well I think you know what I saying.
